COVID-19 UPDATE
March 17, 2020
Dear Bath Baptist Church Family,
Considering the recent guidelines set forth by our President, we are discontinuing our services at the church for the next 15 days. This notice covers all regularly scheduled services through the end of March. At that time, we will re-evaluate the situation. This has not been an easy decision to make, but one that we feel strongly is the best path forward.
I have tried to contact everyone in the church today and notify them that we will be meeting in small groups (7-10), in homes, for the next 15 days at our regularly appointed service times for the purpose of prayer and Bible study. We would encourage hosts to use extra precaution to sanitize and clean all high-touch surfaces in their homes and to ensure that no one in the home is sick or showing signs of the illness. After speaking with all of you, I know that there will be no elderly members meeting in small groups.
We would encourage you to continue to follow the no-touch service guidelines as much as possible and to ensure that safe-distancing is followed as much as possible. If you would like to be a part of one of these small groups, please contact Pastor Hysell as soon as possible at (937) 283-4078. At these meetings, Pastor Hysell will attempt to connect with the small groups through Facebook Live. This Wednesday will be our trial run on this format.
If you are reading this notice and are not a regular part of our church family, we would encourage you to join us through Facebook Live at 7 pm on Wednesday Night and at 11 AM and 6 PM on Sunday Night. We will stream this content from the Bath Baptist Church Facebook page. We will continue to adapt to the situation as we must, so please keep checking back for future updates.
This past week, I shared from Micah 6:8 that God has shown us what He wants from us. He wants us to:
1. Slow Down – Amid all the crazy hustle and anxiety all around us, we run to God Who is our Refuge. Slow down and spend quality time with God each day and night. Walk with God; read His Word and commit yourself to diligent prayer and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit. Bless those in need and share the life-changing message of the gospel of Jesus Christ!
2. Commit yourself to doing what is right – “do justly”
3. Be merciful and compassionate to others – “love mercy”
4. Walk humbly with God – subject yourself to His leading and direction.
We have not taken these steps because we are panicking, but because we want to cooperate with these guidelines for the safety and well-being of our community. If our Church can be of service to you, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Pastor Ryan Hysell
